Open Help from the Studio workspace or compact Studio menu. On desktop, Help opens beside the chart. On a phone, it uses the screen so the guide stays readable. Closing Help returns you to your work.

Search or browse the guides
Enter a task or problem, such as “change a manager” or “person missing.” Search compares your words with maintained Studio guides and article sections in the app. Matching stays local; after analytics consent, the bounded query and a small result snapshot may be stored in our first-party database for up to 30 days to evaluate Help relevance. It does not send the question or chart data to a model, and searching does not change the chart.
Use familiar words. Person, card, and node can all describe someone on the chart, but the rest of the phrase matters. “Change a person’s name” is an edit to their details. “Change a card’s colour” belongs in Themes. Add the task you want to perform instead of searching for one broad word by itself.
Under Suggested guides, read the title and short description before choosing a result. A Studio guide can offer Show me for a control that is available in your current workspace. An article result gives you the relevant written answer and a link to that section of the full guide. An article does not gain a Show me action just because it appears beside an interactive guide.
Available methods follow the workspace you can use now. When the chart canvas is visible, a guide may offer both a chart method and a People method. In a compact People workspace, the guide leads with the available People controls and leaves out chart gestures. Read-only charts keep the explanation but do not offer editing actions.
If nothing matches, try a shorter task such as “edit a title” or “change card colour.” Choose All help to browse, or open How to report a bug when Studio disagrees with the guide.
On a phone, the same Search help, Back, and All help controls apply.
Use Show me
Choose Show me when a guide offers it. If the task has 2 methods, the labels distinguish Show me on the chart from Show me in People.
Studio closes the Help panel, opens the relevant workspace where needed, and points to the real control. It does not perform the edit for you. Complete the task with the normal control, or choose Back to help to return to the guide.
If an editor or dialog is already open, finish or cancel that work before choosing Show me again. A guide also tells you when its method is unavailable in the current view or when the chart is read-only.
Go from a search result to the control
- Enter the task in Search help and choose an interactive result under Suggested guides.
- Read the available methods. Choose Show me on the chart or Show me in People when the guide offers both.
- Complete the task with the highlighted control. Show me reveals the route; it does not make the change.
- Choose Back to help to return to the same guide. From there, Back returns to the earlier results and restores the search.
An article-only result opens the relevant written answer and links to its full guide. Follow the written steps in your workspace.
Go back, close, or start again
Back returns to the previous guide or search results. Your previous search is restored when you return to its results. Choose All help to clear the query and return to the Help start page.
Closing Help returns focus to the Help control in the workspace. Reopen it whenever you need the guide again. If a highlighted control is no longer visible after the workspace changes, reopen the guide and choose Show me again.
The orientation tour can be started again from Help. It introduces the controls available in the current desktop or compact workspace; it does not alter the people in the chart.
Choose whether tips open automatically
Show tips as I work controls proactive guidance. When it is on, Studio can open the introduction after a chart is ready and the workspace is free. Turning it off dismisses proactive guidance.
With Show tips as I work off, Help, search, guides, and Show me still work. The setting only changes whether Studio offers tips first.
