Identify a watermark
A watermark is the visible Org Chart Studio mark added to a free PNG export. It is part of the downloaded image, not the editable chart data. It is not a department label, a person field, or a sign that an import changed your records.

What you can export for free
Studio asks a guest to sign in before showing the Export dialog. Signing in does not buy a pass. It lets Studio show the account's available export choices; free versus pass eligibility is decided separately.
Studio offers 2 free routes in the Export dialog:
- PNG image is free with a watermark when the selected chart or branch is within the free export size shown in Studio.
- CSV spreadsheet is always free. It contains rows of names, titles, managers, departments, and supported data for re-import. It does not contain the visual chart, so there is no image watermark to remove.
When a free PNG qualifies, choosing Export first explains the clean-export option and provides Continue with watermark. That button produces the free file.
PDF and PowerPoint exports require an active pass. A PNG that exceeds the free export size also requires a pass. The Export dialog marks the current choices as Free or Pass and calculates eligibility from the selected scope.
Remove the watermark
- Open Export.
- Choose PNG image and the part of the organization you need.
- Choose Remove watermark or continue from the pass offer in the Export dialog.
- Sign in if asked.
- Choose from the pass sizes Studio offers. The minimum covers the selected export and can be higher when your account has a larger saved chart. Studio presents the current duration, size, and price before checkout.
- After the pass becomes active, return to Export and generate a fresh file.
Removing the watermark does not edit the chart itself. It changes the newly generated export. A PNG downloaded before activation stays watermarked.
What an export pass covers
An active pass allows clean PNG exports and unlocks PDF and editable PowerPoint exports, up to the pass's people limit. Passes are one-time purchases with a stated access period; they do not renew as a subscription.
An active pass covers exports up to its people limit, so the count in the selected scope decides whether the current export qualifies. When you buy a pass, Studio sets the minimum size to cover both that export and your account's largest saved chart. This prevents a new pass from being too small for an existing chart on the account.
Use the quote and minimum size shown in Studio rather than an old screenshot or article price. If your active pass is too small for the selected export, Studio offers an eligible upgrade; that offer also respects the account minimum.
The pass does not change the people, reporting lines, theme, or layout in your saved chart. It changes which export files the account can generate while the pass is active.
I paid, but the new file still has a watermark
Check these in order:
- Confirm that you are signed in to the account that bought the pass.
- Open Export and check that the pass is active.
- Check the number of people in the selected export scope against the pass size. Choosing one manager's branch can produce a smaller export when you do not need the entire organization.
- Generate and download a new export. Reopening the old PNG will still show its old watermark.
- If the pass has expired, choose a new pass before making a clean export.
Do not pay twice while activation is still being checked. Keep the chart open and use the status shown in Export. If the pass is active, the scope fits, and a newly generated file still has the mark, report the problem with the chart's people count, selected format and scope, and the time of the attempt. Do not attach employee data unless support asks for a sanitized example.
For page size, branch depth, pagination, and download details, follow the complete export guide and inspect the preview before generating the file.
